The treatment takes place on a futon (Japanese soft mat on the floor). After the intake, various diagnoses (wrist/stomach or back) are used to determine where an imbalance is and how to treat it.
Shiatsu literally means finger or thumb pressure (Shi = finger, atsu = pressure). It is given through clothing, so wearing flexible clothing with long sleeves and legs is preferred.
Before undergoing treatment, it is wise not to eat a heavy meal. After the treatment, drink water to remove waste products and rest. So do not do any more heavy exertion such as sports. I often also give exercises after the treatment to further support what has been treated.
