What does a Shiatsu therapist do?

Shiatsu is a form of manual therapy from Japan. Based on both Eastern medicine and Western knowledge of anatomy, physiology and psychology. A Shiatsu therapist performs manipulations of the body and mind.

These manipulations are intended to restore freedom of movement, reduce tension, promote blood circulation and stimulate the body's self-healing capacity. Shiatsu therapy focuses not only on relieving symptoms, but also on finding and treating the underlying causes of the conditions.

Shiatsu is a complementary therapy and not a replacement for regular medicine. Always consult your GP first in case of complaints. However, shiatsu can be combined well with regular treatments and treatments by other complementary medicines.
